RotPG – RS_ONE, Sowelu & DJ Killmoney 07/11/2014
Tonight’s guest on Riders of the Plastic Groove (RotPG)

• RS_ONE — Life’s Institute of Sound “Music cleanses the soul from the dust of everyday life” are the words that have helped Ricardo Solis get through life’s highs and lows. Just like the ever-changing frequency waves of his music he continues to morph his style and talent on the tables. Loyal Orange County resident by way of Mexico City, RS_0NE fell head over heels for the soulful 4×4 body experience known as House Music. His first love will always be the exotic, heart throbbing, beats of house but as Ricardo acculturated to his new land music became his channel of discovery and adventure. A true eighties child and nineties teen, music quickly became his method of communication, helping him overcome any language barrier that presented itself in social settings. From underground Hip-hop, Drum & Bass and different styles of House music, Rs_0ne has used them to musically vent and express himself thru his sets and mixes. Whether it may be an intimate social setting or club, RS_0NE will always be that wide-eyed teenager hearing house music for the first time every time he steps behind the tables. The same wide-eyed teenager, whose favorite pastime continues to be digging for vinyl. Always holding his music and the crowd with the utmost respect, Ricardo continues to play for the love of the art and the love of House Music. I LOVE YOU =)

• SOWELU —House Wreckers Originally hailing from Northern California, this transplant to the Los Angeles area was introduced to the LA Underground music scene in 1991. Sowelu has spent most of her young adult life, dancing in warehouses or underneath the desert stars, but the roots of her passion for Music and Art go back to an early age. Once in LA, she discovered an environment that cultivated a spiritual union with the music. In 2004, Sowelu decided DJing was the next step in her effort to express herself with music, that same year, she had put together her first tech-house promo mix and landed a spot at a bi-monthly event in Hollywood, called Residence. Over the last 10 years she has played in venues all over North America, alongside some of the biggest names in House Music Culture. She has been featured player on numerous radio shows and podcasts. Sowelu is currently a resident DJ and Co-Host of the HouseWreckaz Radio show. She joined the HouseWreckaz team in January of 2012. Known for her “story telling” mixes, blending melodic vocals and heavy hitting bass lines, with a touch of her own spiritual energy. She’s definitely a force to be reckoned with when it comes to House Music.
