Verity –
Verity’s been behind the decks for 18 years. He has a mad passion and love for the Oldskool Techno, Breakbeat and Jungle sounds of the early 90’s and evolved into Drum & Bass as well as a wide variety of other electronic music genres. Collecting as many mixtapes as he could get his hands on, he eventually graduated to vinyl and DJ’ing in the mid 90’s. He’s inspired by the original sounds of L.A. DJ’s such as R.A.W., DJ Trance and Ron D Core. He’s played a variety of shows and clubs but also spent quite a bit of time doing intimate outdoor renegade sessions with his close friends who shared the same passion and joy of just getting outdoors, and playing music, LOUD!

DPSM:
he year was 1987 and by that time I had considered myself a DJ because I was using a Realistic mixer from Radio Shack to mix a cassette deck, belt drive (non-pitch) phonograph and Synsonics drum machine together. I was creating cut and paste demonstrations of the music that I had collected, primarily Depeche Mode & New Order remixes. Then I met a cat who had two Technics 1200s and a Numark mixer at his house. He was well stocked in Miami Bass records and would let me practice while he and his friends played Nintendo.
Fast forward, while still collecting a variety of records from Music Market in Costa Mesa, in 1989 I started attending a spot in Laguna Beach named,”Club Post Nuclear,” which introduced me to DJ Robin, an eclectic DJ with a wide variety of tastes. Robin would throw in sounds from Nine Inch Nails, Front 242, Psychic TV, Kraftwerk, Skinny Puppy while mixing in newer artists like Guru Josh, Meat Beat Manifesto and Prodigy. I started buying more “Techno” based music from labels such as Underground Resistance, XL Recordings and R&S from Noise, Noise, Noise in Costa Mesa.
Then it happened- the opening of Dr. Freecloud’s Record Shoppe in Costa Mesa where all of my vinyl and electronic dreams came true. Since it’s opening I have been a loyal customer and friend to the store which supplies me with a plethora of releases.
Throughout the years I have played at various parties and through my other musical endeavors (Fantastic Planet) have even had my 15 minutes of fame opening for Blink 182 and The Black Eyed Peas in 1998.
I love music for music’s sake. There are benefits that come along with playing and networking but the experience should never be tarnished by an over active ego, it just gets in the way and you’ll probably “train wreck” anyway.
MUNGO:
Mungo’s introduction to Electronic Music took place in the summer of 1989 during Double Hit Mickey’s Electric Daisy Carnival. Captivated by this sound, he continued to attend hundreds of events during the next decade, including legendary parties such as No-Doz, Aphrodite’s Temple, Paw-Paw Ranch, and many more.
He was introduced to the art of DJing towards the end of the 1990’s and after a lot of practice, Mungo together with his mentors played at dozens of house parties in south Orange County and sometimes even played at the infamous Cowboy Boogie in Anaheim.
The clubby styles of the time just weren’t cutting it for him anymore so he started playing the underground sounds that truly moved him- NRG, Hard/Acid Trance, Techno, Schranz, and Hardcore- Anything with a mean rhythm and an evil melody.
After a few years away from the underground, Mungo returned in 2012 and actively promoted himself at events, various social networks, and distributed countless mixed CDs.
He was soon invited to join the Dr. Freecloud’s collective and teamed up with Arcid of Techno Belligerent to run an internet-based radio show shortly after. The Techno Belligerent Radio Show is broadcast every Wednesday at 4pm (pacific time). The driving force behind it is to showcase West Coast underground talent but has also seen international artists such as Frankie Bones make appearances as well.
With many notable events under his belt during 2012, Mungo is ready to rock the decks from deserts to warehouses and everywhere in between in 2013 and beyond!
