DJ Dement

DJ Dement has been in and around the LA underground scene since 1993, DJ’ing since 1995. From 2000 to 2010 he took a break from the scene but found himself still searching for that underground sound. A trip into Dr. Freeclouds, to buy a CD, led to starting up a vinyl collection again with a new itch to get back out into the scene. Along with his “new” vinyl collection he found a new love, Industrial Hardcore. It’s a generally slower, dark and often grungy style of Gabber. While formating sets, he tends to have an idea of where to go but not have set tracks to play, with a multi subgenre of Hardcore. Hardstyle, Gabber, Industrial and Core ‘N Bass (also know as crossbread) Recently he has been working with Dr. Freeclouds, Audio Science, Dirty Snare and CDP with hopes to work with many more of the LA area promoters in the near future.

RotPG – Phillip Cejudo (02/25/2011)

In Phillip Cejudo’s own words:
When I was ten years old my interest in House Music began because it was one of few options for an inner city youth in the high crime Los Angeles of the 1990’s. By the time I was 11, DJ AJ MORA invited me into the music scene by introducing me to the world of DJing. He allowed me to watch him practice mixing in the basement and let me accompany him to local club gigs and at 12, I got my first DJ system on layaway from a local music shop. This is where my journey began.

As a young DJ and high school student I was more interest in graffiti art, sketching classes and AJ’s home studio than I was in my formal education. In 1998 I was 15 years old and the youngest among the DJs in the Los Angeles underground music scene. By 2002 I played gigs regularly in and around Los Angeles as well as an annual music festival south of Chicago, IL.

In 2005 I began a music focused event called Sunday School which was held in my downtown Los Angles loft every week. A self-refurbished sound system was completed in order to optimize sound quality for the space. Sunday School lasted until the fall of 2006 because it quickly drew more crowds than space allowed.

Taking a year to build my hand crafted speakers I finally unveiled them at the monthly event, Confidential House Culture. Held in the basement of a downtown Los Angeles landmark, Confidential has grown exponentially since the first event and continues to draw crows who are there for one purpose: dancing to the rhythms of the soul.
