DJ Dement

DJ Dement has been in and around the LA underground scene since 1993, DJ’ing since 1995. From 2000 to 2010 he took a break from the scene but found himself still searching for that underground sound. A trip into Dr. Freeclouds, to buy a CD, led to starting up a vinyl collection again with a new itch to get back out into the scene. Along with his “new” vinyl collection he found a new love, Industrial Hardcore. It’s a generally slower, dark and often grungy style of Gabber. While formating sets, he tends to have an idea of where to go but not have set tracks to play, with a multi subgenre of Hardcore. Hardstyle, Gabber, Industrial and Core ‘N Bass (also know as crossbread) Recently he has been working with Dr. Freeclouds, Audio Science, Dirty Snare and CDP with hopes to work with many more of the LA area promoters in the near future.

RotPG – DJ Mojo (06/15/2012)

Mojo

“Mojo first made an appearance on Riders of the Plastic Groove all the way back in 1993.
With a diverse taste in music, Mojo is just as comfortable spinning deep house as he is drum & bass, breaks or downtempo. A veteran of the Los Angeles electronic music scene, Mojo got his start back in 1992, at the height of the techno explosion, spinning at the legendary What? Afterhours. Shortly thereafter, he was invited to join the Insomniac roster playing at the Friday weekly as well as some of Insomniac’s first massives including Organic ’96 and the first two Nocturnal Wonderland events.
Known for its friendly and positive vibe, F.A.M.I.L.Y. started in 1994 and Mojo was one of the original residents, serving up a blend of breaks, progressive house and the occasional trip hop set. Performances at this well-loved monthly paved the way for steady bookings throughout the 90s, in Southern California and beyond.
A self-imposed hiatus in 2000 allowed Mojo to focus on furthering his education as well as to begin exploring his life-long ambition of music production. With several remixes and original releases out on Cold Busted and Journees Music, Mojo is pursuing the production side full throttle. And while production and remixing absorbs most of his musical focus, dropping eclectic mixes is still very much on the agenda.”

RotPG – Martin Worster (05/18/2012)

Martin Worster
Click here to listen and download the show.
Martin Worster (aka Han The DJ) had his first mystical experience on a dancefloor – well actually in the middle of a field – during the heady acid house days growing up in London, UK. This lead to a lifelong love affair with DJing and electronic music. As a student in Brighton on the south coast of England Martin held residencies at The Zap, the Warehouse and for the Babble sound system.
In London Martin played at Fabric, the Milk Bar and various one off parties around the capital whilst working as a music journalist for NME, Muzik, dotmusic and Music Week. Another exciting residency was held at Dicks T Bar in Chamonix, France where Martin was the resident DJ for two seasons playing to lively crowd of up for it Euro party heads.
Han The DJ can be found spinning every second Saturday of the month at the Zap night at Avalon in Costa Mesa. Expect to hear funky house music in all it’s guises (alongside funk, rare groove, reggae, dub, UK garage, soul and drum and bass) as Han tries to replicate that eclectic London sound system vibe for your aural pleasure.
RotPG – Altered State & Mark Panik vs The Viking (04/16/2012)
Tonight’s show started out with dedicating the show to Aaron Seavey and played one of his all time favorite song Chasing The Sun by Planet Funk. Then we played a special mix by DJ Altered State.
Minimal Widget has a Avid love for music that is not so mainstream.
She begun her journey in music production early 2011, using software such as Cubase.5 and SoundForge along with MiDi controllers and hardware synthesizers by Novation.
Dj as – The Altered State – since the begining of 2009.
Her sounds are unique and closely sit in the Techno / Minimal section.
Signed to V K Minimal Techno Label in November 2011 and will be releasing her first ep –
“Psyched Out”
Then we played a mix by Mark Panik & The Viking. “This is a collaborative effort between Hardcore DJ Mark Panik and Northern California’s Dubstep Viking, combining elements of Dubstep, progressive, and ambient sounds into a 40 minute soundscape. Artists include Bassnectar, Infected Mushroom, Caspa, Noah D, xilent, Bushy Vs. NAPT, Tina Malia, Double U, and Specimen A, with music direction by the VIking, and additional sound direction, production and mixing by Mark Panik.”
We closed the show with a remix by Danny Tenaglia titled “Not Over Yet (Danny Tenaglia’s Friday Night at Twillo Mix) by Grace” in honor of his announcement earlier this week that he will be retiring.

Altered State
Altered State a young dj and producer not to be overlooked! Her fresh approach to mixin’ it up on the wheels of steel will take any crowd on a trip not to be forgotten.
Producing under the name ‘Minimal Widget’ she released her 1st e.p ‘Psyched Out’ on VK Minimal Techno Label, wanting to express sounds that are of a deeper, darker atmosphere in her own personal style which is possibly a little bit bizarre, whether it’s a set, remix or her own tracks.
Attending many open air music festivals and some clubs as a pure raver until the age of 20, meeting and mixing with underground dj’s and gradually getting involved with the pirate radio scene… she was now hooked on the sounds of the underground! Finally in early 2009 Roisin (that’s her real name) got the cash to get a set of Technics 1200 turn-tables to start the voyage of dj’ing, and soon becoming a vinyl junkie! Spinning Minimal-tech / techno in all various sub genres is what she loves the most. 2011 was the year Minimal Widget started to write her own music and Altered State began looking into digital dj blending. But, she will never give up the turntables & vinyl!
In August 1988 Roisin was born and subsequently raised in the South of England (UK). From a young age she was well into the dance side of electronic music, busting out body popping shapes whenever a bass line was heard.
Having young parents was definitely an advantage to her great taste in underground music growing up listening to the early sounds of ‘House’ & ‘Rave’, not to forget the ‘Motown’, ‘Northern Soul’ and ‘Reggae’…even the rockin’ and psychedelic bands of the 60’s and 70’s!
As a teenager she soon fell into the Trance scene as well, loving the expressive sounds of synthesizers and how such a sound can grasp hold of your feelings and take you on a journey of natural highs and lows. The horizon of sounds soon opened, finding the likes of, ‘Nightmares On Wax productions’ and M.A.N.D.Y, she appreciated their captivating energies and flow, inspiring Roisin in life & music for then and time to come…
